Hello, my name is Hannah.

I've always enjoyed making things. Whether I'm painting, illustrating, sewing or knitting, I love the quiet and calm that comes from creating something by hand. I've always been drawn to picture story books too. There has always been something comforting about stories, illustrations and the peaceful moments they create. One of my long-term goals is to write and illustrate my own picture story book!

I'm a registered primary school teacher, artist and Sounds-Write trained practitioner. I’m also a proud member of the Australian Tutoring Association. I created Hannah's Paper Daisies because I know that children don't all learn best in the same environment. Some flourish when they're given a quiet place to think, ask questions and learn without feeling hurried. My hope is to offer that kind of place; a warm, welcoming space where children feel comfortable enough to be themselves and confident enough to keep learning.

I've always appreciated that every child learns in their own way. Some children need time to think, while others benefit from movement, drawing or simply having someone who takes the time to understand them. Getting to know each child and discovering what helps them learn is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

My Philosophy

I believe literacy is about much more than learning to read and write. It is about helping children feel confident in themselves as learners and discover that learning can be something they enjoy.

Rather than expecting every child to learn in the same way, I tailor each session to suit the individual child, building on their strengths and finding approaches that help learning make sense.

I believe children learn best when they feel safe, listened to and genuinely understood. When children feel comfortable enough to ask questions, make mistakes and take their time, they can begin to approach learning with curiosity and confidence.

Creativity has always been an important part of my life and my teaching. For some children, drawing, talking, experimenting or approaching an idea from a different angle can provide a pathway into reading and writing. Sometimes finding a different way to explore an idea is what helps learning begin to click.

My hope is that every child who visits Hannah's Paper Daisies feels welcome, understood and leaves with greater confidence and a more positive relationship with learning. Whether they are developing literacy skills, exploring their creativity or discovering new ways to express themselves, I hope each child leaves feeling proud of what they can achieve.
